Stamina InMotion II Manual Treadmill

I read all the good and not so good reviews and decided to buy this.

I’m 5′3″ and 120 lbs (ok.. 130 lbs) and here are my comments:

– assembled in 10 minutes

– the person who said silicone it up really well was right – do it

– the person who said to use a 2×4 under the back to decrease the incline was right – do it

– this is designed for walking and fast walking – NOT running

– this is designed for a shorter person with a shorter stride

– if you are looking for the ease, steady movement of an automatic treadmill, do not buy this

– read the instructions on adjusting when the belt shifts – it takes a few adjustments, but then it stays

– I can’t comment on the digital monitor since my vision isn’t so hot (I can’t really see the numbers very well)

– when you get the hang of the walking rhythm, this will be a good workout

– and, I don’t think this is loud (and I’m sensitive to loud machinery)

This was easy to assemble, with all the necessary tools in tact and it’s not too heavy and rolls away like a charm….I think I am going to enjoy walking’ on this. It is too hot right now to walk outdoors, so this should do the trick…

There’s really not much I can add to the other positive reviews for this machine, I think it’s all that they say. I like the fact it’s maneuverable, and it wasn’t at all difficult to put together. I’m a 56 year old female, not fit (anymore) but I was able to put it together with a little thought. You want to use a normal phillips-head screwdriver… something with a decent handle to give you leverage and a better grip. And a normal wrench for the larger bolts at the base. The problem areas were the first step in assembly: putting the screws holding the handles to the console bar–use a regular-handled screwdriver and moderate force; they’ll go in fine. The front bottom piece (front support) that goes to the base of the handles…it is a very tight fit, and I had to get on the floor, put one end inside the opening, and push (muscle) the other side over to its opening. This was hard…you may need another person to hold one end or do the pulling/pushing.

I read somewhere there was a ’sticking’ issue. I found that this was due to my finding my balance….any motion that causes hesitation or a stop will feel like the tread sticks. I bought the silicone spray that was recommended as well, and had sprayed the backside of the tread before I did very much. It will still stop or feel jerky if your motion isn’t complete…walk like you normally walk, and hang onto the handles! It’s a balance issue.

I was worried about the 13″ width for the walking surface, but it’s fine! I can see where I might be able to jog eventually…but I’m doing well to finish 15-20 minutes just walking. My heart rate is up within a few minutes….the workout is really better than I expected. Lots of glutes, quads, hamstrings…all get a terrific workout. I’m very happy with this machine :)

Oh, an added perk: the console is large enough to maybe put a book holder onto it. One of the drawbacks I saw with other manual machines that had only the little computer box, no console. (Computer also works fine….make sure all your wires are connected).

Edge 500 Manual Treadmill

I bought this treadmill for my brother (I have a manual treadmill from another manufacturer.) The Edge 500 works fine but be forewarned, its not intended for tall or average height people. My brother can’t use it, causes him back pain (I’m getting him another piece of equipment.) It’s difficult for me to use also (and I’m five feet tall.) So again, very good product for very short people. Unfortunately, I’ll be donating the one I purchased.

Weslo Cardiostride Plus Manual Treadmill

I’ve only had the CardioStride Plus for about a week, but it is reasonably well made and gives you a really good workout. I’m trying to loose a few pounds, so I like to briskly walk for 1.5 miles in the morning and then while watching a movies. I’m using this treadmill to test my diligence to exercise on a treadmill. So far it has surpassed my expectation and maybe I’ll keep this one for longer than expected. It definitely works you out more than a motorized treadmill since you are doing all the work.

Pros: Inexpensive, compact/light, simple, great workout for walking, easy set-up.

Cons: The bed creaks a bit while walking, so I have to turn up audio system pretty loud. The belt takes some adjusting to get and keep it centered and I find that when I move the treadmill, the belt often has to be re-centered. This is probably due to the very simple centering system and the fact that minor level changes in the floor will impact belt centering. You also need to keep your hands on the handles which will make reading somewhat difficult.

Best Cheap Treadmills To Buy

Smooth Fitness 5.45When you go buying a treadmill you are certain to come across a vast range of choices that are sure to baffle you and make your purchase difficult. Therefore, the smartest thing to do is not only to decide in advance your budget and the features you require in your treadmill, but also the most viable brand and model.

Here is a brief comparative review of three extremely common treadmill options:

Gold’s Gym VX 5000: This one comes with a huge motor operating on a 2.5 HP motor plus a warranty period of 12 years. It is also compatible with the iFit. However the most striking features are the fans that can keep you cool. The chest sensors and the heart rate grip make it one complete machine. The purchase price is fair enough when compared with the features.

Sole F80: At $3,000 it is one of the best rated treadmills today. Though the warranty period is much lower as compared to the Gold’s gym (at only a 2 year time period), this home electric treadmill can still be trusted with durability. Its motor runs at 2.5 HP. The machine also provides you with a wireless controller of your heart rate. The control set ups are located at convenient positions so that you can make adjustments when needed without having to break your stride. This is the kind of treadmill you would want to look at if you were learning how to start a gym because these are the quality of treadmills you will find with a gym.

Smooth 5.45 Folding Treadmill: Just like the previous two, this treadmill motor also runs at 2.5 HP. This model is particularly suitable for those who are looking for a quality cheap treadmill. At $1,000 and a comfortable 5-year warranty on the machine parts with controlled heart rate workouts, this machine has good value.

Apart from these you can also consider options like the Vision Fitness 9200, TR2000 HRC Lifespan and BodyCraft TR1120 Foldup Treadmill. However, regardless of what you choose, make sure the treadmill you opt for is what you really need, instead of what you simply like. Many times the fancy models do not serve the purpose as well as the less fancy ones. You need to be all the more careful while making your purchase if you go buying a cheap treadmill, in order to ensure that you are opting for something with the maximum possible features at a low price.

Treadmill Reviews: An Look Into The Popular Treadmill Brands

WesloBuying a treadmill can turn extremely tiresome if you do not have a good idea about the various treadmill brands. Here is a brief peek into some of the globally famous and all time favorite brands that you can consider while buying your treadmill:

Gold’s Gym

The Gold’s Gym chain is known all over the world for its excellent machines that have great durability. Though the prices have increased in recent years, they have cheap treadmills available too, starting at around $400.

Their products come with a long guarantee period which itself is an assurance of their quality and longevity. However, one drawback with Gold’s Gym is that there is little variety in the treadmill department. All in all, it is a great option for starters. It is not recommended for hardcore runners.

Star Trac Treadmills

Known for their durability and reliability, there is no brand that can beat the attraction of Star Trac’s specific designs and smart features. However, the price range that starts at $3000 often makes them expensive for small families.

Another drawback is that they provides just a 3 year warranty (quite a short duration when compared to many other close competitors). It is recommended for those looking forward to a serious workout.

Weslo

If you are looking for a cheap treadmill, Welso is perhaps the best deal for you. Most of their products are sold at less than $1000, and the machines include all the basic features that they should have. However the products come at a warranty period of just about 90 days and the treadmills lack most of the fancy features.

Also, you may find the Welso treadmills feeling less comfortable as compared to the other brand available. To sum it up, it is suitable only for starters who do not need anything more than fair quality and reasonable basics.

While these were the most common manufacturers, you might like to consider reviews of certain other popular treadmill brand names too, especially if the models do not match with your requirements.
