Stamina InMotion II Manual Treadmill

I read all the good and not so good reviews and decided to buy this.

I’m 5′3″ and 120 lbs (ok.. 130 lbs) and here are my comments:

– assembled in 10 minutes

– the person who said silicone it up really well was right – do it

– the person who said to use a 2×4 under the back to decrease the incline was right – do it

– this is designed for walking and fast walking – NOT running

– this is designed for a shorter person with a shorter stride

– if you are looking for the ease, steady movement of an automatic treadmill, do not buy this

– read the instructions on adjusting when the belt shifts – it takes a few adjustments, but then it stays

– I can’t comment on the digital monitor since my vision isn’t so hot (I can’t really see the numbers very well)

– when you get the hang of the walking rhythm, this will be a good workout

– and, I don’t think this is loud (and I’m sensitive to loud machinery)

This was easy to assemble, with all the necessary tools in tact and it’s not too heavy and rolls away like a charm….I think I am going to enjoy walking’ on this. It is too hot right now to walk outdoors, so this should do the trick…

There’s really not much I can add to the other positive reviews for this machine, I think it’s all that they say. I like the fact it’s maneuverable, and it wasn’t at all difficult to put together. I’m a 56 year old female, not fit (anymore) but I was able to put it together with a little thought. You want to use a normal phillips-head screwdriver… something with a decent handle to give you leverage and a better grip. And a normal wrench for the larger bolts at the base. The problem areas were the first step in assembly: putting the screws holding the handles to the console bar–use a regular-handled screwdriver and moderate force; they’ll go in fine. The front bottom piece (front support) that goes to the base of the handles…it is a very tight fit, and I had to get on the floor, put one end inside the opening, and push (muscle) the other side over to its opening. This was hard…you may need another person to hold one end or do the pulling/pushing.

I read somewhere there was a ’sticking’ issue. I found that this was due to my finding my balance….any motion that causes hesitation or a stop will feel like the tread sticks. I bought the silicone spray that was recommended as well, and had sprayed the backside of the tread before I did very much. It will still stop or feel jerky if your motion isn’t complete…walk like you normally walk, and hang onto the handles! It’s a balance issue.

I was worried about the 13″ width for the walking surface, but it’s fine! I can see where I might be able to jog eventually…but I’m doing well to finish 15-20 minutes just walking. My heart rate is up within a few minutes….the workout is really better than I expected. Lots of glutes, quads, hamstrings…all get a terrific workout. I’m very happy with this machine :)

Oh, an added perk: the console is large enough to maybe put a book holder onto it. One of the drawbacks I saw with other manual machines that had only the little computer box, no console. (Computer also works fine….make sure all your wires are connected).

Edge 500 Manual Treadmill

I bought this treadmill for my brother (I have a manual treadmill from another manufacturer.) The Edge 500 works fine but be forewarned, its not intended for tall or average height people. My brother can’t use it, causes him back pain (I’m getting him another piece of equipment.) It’s difficult for me to use also (and I’m five feet tall.) So again, very good product for very short people. Unfortunately, I’ll be donating the one I purchased.

Weslo Cardiostride Plus Manual Treadmill

I’ve only had the CardioStride Plus for about a week, but it is reasonably well made and gives you a really good workout. I’m trying to loose a few pounds, so I like to briskly walk for 1.5 miles in the morning and then while watching a movies. I’m using this treadmill to test my diligence to exercise on a treadmill. So far it has surpassed my expectation and maybe I’ll keep this one for longer than expected. It definitely works you out more than a motorized treadmill since you are doing all the work.

Pros: Inexpensive, compact/light, simple, great workout for walking, easy set-up.

Cons: The bed creaks a bit while walking, so I have to turn up audio system pretty loud. The belt takes some adjusting to get and keep it centered and I find that when I move the treadmill, the belt often has to be re-centered. This is probably due to the very simple centering system and the fact that minor level changes in the floor will impact belt centering. You also need to keep your hands on the handles which will make reading somewhat difficult.

How Treadmills can Help You Lose Weight and Stay in Shape

Treadmills are the number 1 choice for consumers looking to lose weight at home and are bought by slimmers ahead of any other exercise machine year after year. Effective treadmill training can help you achieve fast weight loss and allow you to reach your goals sooner that you expected!  Treadmill training doesn’t have to be expensive either, there are many good quality cheap treadmills available for purchase online and offline. Below are five tips to help you get the most out of your treadmill workouts.

Tip 1- The thought of exercise sends shivers down the spines of most people. But if you want an enviable, slim and sexy body – fast, then exercise needs to be incorporated into your weight loss program.

Having a treadmill can be the antidote to your exercise fears! Set it up in front of the television and watch your favorite shows while walking (or running!) for an hour, your mind will be occupied and you will not even realize how much exercise you’re accomplishing and how many calories you’re burning.

If you are looking to burn more calories, adjust the treadmill settings to an incline, stick your favorite CD on and get the blood pumping or take a stroll when you’re reading the next chapter of that thriller novel!

Having the opportunity to be occupied at the same time as exercising on the treadmill is beneficial for both those who get bored easily or plainly hate exercise.

Tip 2- Many exercise gadgets promote high fitness levels and instantaneous weight loss but alas most of this equipment only works out one body part. Individuals will soon become used to this monotonous work out and end up burning fewer calories then required.  However, the treadmill cannot be beaten for workout adaptability!

When first embarking on a weight loss program the treadmill can be set for a steady walk and then be increased further and further as your fitness levels increase. If you are training for a competition or marathon, set the treadmill at a steady pace or incorporate sprints into your training.

To raise the number of calories being burned try increasing the incline to give you a greater challenge and some treadmills can even be set downhill which is great for cross-training.

Add ankle weights and hand-hold weights whilst exercising on the treadmill. These products encourage the growth of lean muscle at the same time as weight loss.

There are various ways you can adapt treadmill workouts to keep things fresh and ensure each body part is being worked on.

Tip 3- Not having enough hours in the day to exercise is not a good enough excuse not to! Having a treadmill at home means you needn’t take an hour and a half out of your day to go to the gym or an exercise class as its ready every time you are. Whilst the dinner is cooking, jump on the treadmill for 15 minutes or ring your friend and catch-up while taking a brisk walk!

Studies have shown that doing 2x 15 minutes of exercise a day is just as advantageous as doing 30 minutes together. Having a treadmill at home gives you the freedom to split your exercise time around your lifestyle and still burn just as many calories. Try a session before dinner to diminish your hunger or in the evenings as an alternative to boredom eating.

Tip 4- Treadmills give you an all – year- round workout and continued weight loss!

With a treadmill at home you have the opportunity to work out all year round whatever the weather.  We have all been guilty of putting off exercise due to cold or rain and sometimes it can be too dangerous to go out running, especially in ice or snow.

Sometimes you may want to exercise early in the morning or late at night and the gym hasn’t opened yet and therefore we wave goodbye to our workouts for that day.

Those of us with a treadmill can complete our workouts without weather conditions or time restraints hindering our weight loss progress.

In addition, my favorite reason why treadmills are the paramount exercise product is that you can wear whatever you wish whilst working out instead of feeling trampy amongst the Lycra-clad gym goers.

Tip 5- Incorporating a treadmill into your exercise regime can help you burn greater fat calories.

Studies show that gentle walking in fact burns more fat then a small amount of enthusiastic exercise as the latter requires energy promptly from the body and consequently takes from the sugar stores first. Nonetheless, walking at a steady pace requires energy slower and will make the body use up fat stores first. Increasing the incline on your walk will burn even more calories!

Not only that, but the treadmill has been ranked the number 1 cardiovascular machine for burning calories and losing weight by the American Medical Association.

Regarding all the benefits its no surprise treadmill sales have rocketed over the last few years. Bear in mind when acquiring a treadmill to ensure it’s the best one to suit your personal needs.
